Angela Jones, aka Image Atlas, is an Australian-born photographer, doula, and educator based in New York since 2014. 

Her practice is a slow, deliberate ritual, grounded in care and shared authorship.

Through the alchemy of 19th century tintype photography, Angela creates a space where time slows, presence deepens, and moments of transformation are held and witnessed.

Angela approaches each portrait as a vessel for memory, self-discovery, and connection, creating timeless artefacts.

Taking her practice to a global scale, her hands-on workshops extend this philosophy into the community, creating accessible spaces for people to engage with alternative photographic processes, storytelling, and collective exploration. These sessions offer participants a rare opportunity to learn the alchemy themselves, cultivating the portrait as a space of agency where the experience of being photographed is not passive, but an empowered act of self-expression.

angela also practices as a doula. supporting people through periods of profound transition with tenderness, and respect for each person’s individual experience.

Her Australian home informs the visual language of Image Atlas through themes of water, spaciousness, breath, and connection to the natural world.

Angelas collaborations span across art and fashion working on projects with Alighieri in London and recently photographing Chloë Sevigny for Régime des Fleurs in New York.

Her exhibition practice has included conceptual projects at the Ace Hotel in Manhattan, including a collaboration with Afghan artist Yelda Ali exploring womanhood and identity.

This year Angela presented her solo show Womb Portal, an immersive installation combining tintype photography, sculpture, sound, and ceremony to reflect on the womb space, utilizing photography as a powerful medium of resistance and remembrance, designed to give voice to stories that are not always spoken.

Her work is an embodied, collaborative world-building practice.
